March brought another birthday and I was excited to ask my family for help around my home as my birthday gifts. So, on March 4th my family came over and help complete and continue progress on several projects. It was fun to have everyone over and I really appreciated the extra help. I also really enjoy seeing my nieces and nephews spend time together and love sharing my home with them.
The first project was to replace the boards on the gate and give it a fresh coat of paint. Here is what the gate looked like when I bought the home.
I was afraid I would have to purchase a new gate because it looked so bad before but it looks better than new now.
Karl, hung up a swing for the little kids on the back porch. He made sure it would hold their weight.
Everyone pitched in to remove a million staples, a couple nails and screws that the previous owners had left in the wood on the back porch. Seriously, they were everywhere. This would have taken me hours on my own.
Sophie enjoyed the swing while everyone worked.
My dad moved the sprinkler timer from the backyard to the front yard and added an electrical outlet so it could be plugged in and used correctly. It is very handy to have a dad who has a wide range of knowledge.
After lunch, the family worked together to tackle the mounds of weeds that found a new home in the backyard.
It was McKay's turn to enjoy the swing while others whacked at the weeds.
Then, Karl brought in the big guns and ran to work to pick-up a machine. He was able to clear the weeds and do a little more leveling in no time.
The kids enjoyed watching TV, playing games and playing on the computer throughout the day.
